Breeding Projects

Here you’ll find the special projects that we are currently working on. One thing that goes for all our projects is trying to keep geckos free of dalmatian spots. Most of our geckos are spot free but some may have a couple.

Red Phantoms

One of our main projects here at Sostic Reptiles is our red phantom project. Currently our main goal is to improve the structure and brightness of the red.

We do have some sub-projects within the group however like white spots, white pinning and using them to create phantom Lilly Whites.

Orange Phantoms

Have you ever tried to look for clean orange phantoms? Turns out, they’re hard to find!

Our main goal is to take geckos from our red project that turn out more orange and breed them to some of the geckos from our yellow phantom project to create nice clean oranges.

Yellow Phantoms

Have you ever tried to look for clean yellow phantoms? Turns out, they’re just as hard to find as orange ones!

This project is a small one but we are hoping to produce a few clean yellow phantoms to keep for our own projects as well as a few to let go. We didn’t realize how hard it is to find clean yellow phantoms without tons of spots and pattern.

Dark Phantoms

Are you seeing a pattern here? I see lots of phantom projects in the works here.

Our dark phantom project is probably our second largest compared to our reds. These are just normal dark phantoms non capp. Our goal is to produce the darkest, cleanest, spot free phantoms possible. Also combining these with Lilly Whites to create dark phantom Lilly Whites.

Lilly Whites

Who doesn’t love a good Lilly White? Better yet a phantom Lilly White?

With us working to create all these beautiful phantoms, one of our long term goals is to create phantom Lilly Whites in each of the phantom colors we are working with. However this is a longer term project as it requires not only the phantoms but also geckos that are het and then eventually you get the phantom Lilly Whites.

So far we are closest with our dark and red groups. We currently have both Lilly Whites het phantom for our dark group and red Lilly Whites het phantom for our reds. We also own a few visual red phantom Lilly Whites as well as yellow phantom Lilly Whites.

Extreme Harlequins

This is the project that has been around since the very beginning of Sostic Reptiles and will always hold a place in our heart! We love extremes of all colors and patterns and infact our very first pairing was two extreme harlequins.

We have been working on producing dark and light based extremes since we first started our crested gecko journey. These days we still produce a small number of extremes every year to filter into our other projects. While our main focus isn’t solely extremes anymore, we still love when a nice one pops out and we love to watch their pattern spread as they get bigger.

As we grow and continue to obtain more new and exciting projects we have started to slowly downsize the amount of extremes we are producing to focus on more specialized projects. However I don’t think we could ever 100% stop producing them as they are one of our all time favorites here and one of the things that got us into crested geckos and breeding in the first place.
